31 August 2023African Heritage House Visit
African Heritage House is a national monument in Kenya, classified and gazetted under the National Museums and Heritage Act in 2016. Designed by Alan Donovan, built to preserve forgotten architectural designs of the African continent.
The house inspiration depicts the towering mud of the Great Mosque of Djenne in Mali, the mud palaces of Morocco, the Swahili architecture of the East African coast, Zanzibar and Lamu; and the traditional houses of Ghana and Burkina Faso.

In this important day, we invited all our members, women, and men for a light social brunch, to celebrate the women of UNKLESA plus all the women of our nations for the part they take contributing and making our lives, society and nations complete.
13 January 2023Welcome Brunch 2023
The 1st event kick off for 2023, was our informal brunch. Many of our old members and the new members joined the bruch program. It was an execellent oppertunity to welcome 2023 and come together to share their resolution for the New Year 2023. Wtih encouragement of good participation we hope to support our members better in 2023. Happy New Year!
November 17, 2022World Prematurity Day
For 2022 Prematurity day, UNKLESA organized a donation drive to support mothers of premature babies at the prematurity ward of Pumwani and Kenyatta hospitals. UNKLESA donated 260 diapers kits and 177 beanie hats crocheted by our UNKLESA members. On November 17th, 2022, UNKLESA together with UNICEF ESARO Health Unit organized World Prematurity Day commemoration event at the UNON compound Gigiri.
November 3, 2022UNKLESA AGM 2022
UNKLESA AGM 2022 was held on November 3rd. The AGM took place at the UNON compound confrence hall, Gigiri. The event was presented by 2021-22 board chair Sameer Kermalli. The event was attended by UNKLESA members with participation by UNKLESA election committee, all the 2021-22 board members and the members of the 2022-23 board.
May 14, 2022‘Green’ Fun Family Day
UNKLESA organized an event at Tigoni to celebrate World Environment Day, under the theme of #OnlyOneEarth. Nearly 100 UN staff and their family members joined the celebration. A range of activities took place, promoting sustainable living in harmony with nature; from eating locally sourced organic food to planting trees. Children enjoyed various competitive games made out of recycled material, learning how to have fun while protecting nature at the same time. Green Fun Family Day was one of the most successful UNKLESA events.

We organised a family-friendly tree planting event on the same day as the playdate. Kids and their families had a chance to play and also get involved in this fun process of restoring nature.

March 8, 2021Premature-Babies ward donation
On International Womens’ Day, UNKLESA donated 9 bales of diapers and 400 knitted hats for premature babies to the premature-babies ward of Kenyatta National Hospital. We didn’t get to meet the mothers but along with our donations we are sending them our warmest wishes during these challenging times.
