Who We Are

International relocation is recognised as one of the most stressful life events.

It’s no secret, that relocating to a new country can be one of the most stressful life events, and that the spouses and partners of UN staff members often feel isolated and unfulfilled in a new location.

This is where UNKLESA (United Nations Kenya Local Expatriate Spouse Association) comes in. It is an organisation dedicated to supporting UN and diplomatic spouses, and it is solely comprised and run by its members on a voluntary basis.

UNKLESA provides a platform for social interaction, networking, professional training and other activities and aims to significantly improve the living conditions of the relocated families.

When possible, we also advocate on behalf of UN spouses, helping UN organizations take advantage of the pool of skills that are often readily available through our members.

We build a strong community through these activities, but we are also here to support spouses formally or informally, with information and guidance on issues that may arise when relocating to Kenya. We always welcome new ideas about ways we can help, events to organise, or any other suggestion that would help us evolve as an association.

UNKLESA is part of an international network of UN Local Expatriate Spouse Associations (LESAs) around the world.
